Mini Facelift FAQs

Facelifts are one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the United States—following only breast augmentation, liposuction, and eyelid surgery in popularity. For those who feel they are not ready to consider a total facelift, mini facelifts are a quick and attractive option.

We invite you to read our mini facelift FAQs, or if you live in the Maryland area, we’d be pleased to help you schedule a mini facelift consultation with our plastic surgeon.

What Is a Mini Facelift?

The mini facelift is a newer facial cosmetic surgery procedure aimed at individuals who are just starting to see signs of aging. Used to correct minor facial sagging in areas like the cheek, jaw, and neck, a mini facelift is often called the “weekend facelift” due to its reputation for quick procedures and fast recovery times.

What’s the Difference Between a Mini Facelift and a Facelift?

While a traditional facelift targets all sections of the face and major sagging, a mini facelift is meant to target minor sagging in specific areas of the face. A facelift is ideal for those who wish to:

  • Achieve a more rested, youthful appearance
  • Eliminate wrinkles, sagging skin, “turkey neck,” or sagging cheeks or jawlines
  • And more

A full facelift is most often performed on patients over the age of 40 and is often accompanied by liposuction to remove excess fat from the face and neck while also tightening sagging skin.
Alternatively, a mini facelift is ideal for those who wish to:

  • Be proactive about combatting the early signs of aging
  • Target only specific areas, like the brows, cheeks, jaw, neck, etc.
  • “Touch up” a previous facelift

Recovery time for a full facelift is usually around one to two weeks, while mini facelift recovery is just a few days due to smaller incisions.

How Long Will a Mini Facelift Last?

While each patient is different, typical mini facelift results can last about 5 – 10 years.

How Much Does a Mini Facelift Cost?

Due to the brevity of the procedure and the smaller incisions, mini facelifts are often a more attractive option for many patients from a pricing perspective.

So how much does a mini facelift cost? The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) offers national averages for physician/surgeon fees for the most common plastic surgery procedures on surgery.org. However, it’s very important to note that these figures do not include the following fees:

  • Surgical facility
  • Anesthesia
  • Medical tests
  • Prescriptions
  • Surgical garments
  • Etc.

In addition, when you schedule your one-on-one consultation with our Maryland plastic surgeon, he will perform a physical exam and discuss your goals for your mini facelift. Your body is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all pricing for your particular needs and goals.

With that being said, if you’re curious, you can check out the 2011 national estimates from ASAPS for some of our most popular surgeries, including facelifts and mini facelifts.
