Augmentation mammoplasty, more commonly known as a breast augmentation procedure or breast enlargement through breast implants, is one of our specialties. In Catonsville and throughout Maryland, our practice has a reputation for helping women aesthetically enhance the shape and size of their breasts. Our doctors bring a unique combination of experience, surgical skill, and personal attention to every procedure. For natural-looking breast enlargement with breast implants, women in the Catonsville area can rely on Dr. Rosenberg and The Plastic Surgery Center.
The breast augmentation procedure begins with a consultation at Dr. Rosenberg’s office, located close to Catonsville. During the consultation, you’ll discuss your desired look with Dr. Rosenberg. From there, you’ll undergo an outpatient procedure, followed by post-surgery checkups and care.
During the consultation, Dr. Rosenberg performs a comprehensive evaluation and discuss your goals for breast enlargement. He will then carefully advise you on the type, method, and placement of breast implants that suit you best, according to your body type, desired look, and lasting effect. Often, a variety of breast implant types, access locations, and breast implant positions will be available to you, and Dr. Rosenberg will advise you on the options that will be best for you.
During this time you will choose what type and size of breast implant you want, which Dr. Rosenberg will walk you through. The two main types of breast implants are saline and silicone, and each has its own benefits and drawbacks. For a more in-depth preview of your breast implant options, see our types of implants page. You’ll get a very good idea of what your breasts will look like after surgery, and it’s during this time Dr. Rosenberg can answer any questions you may have about the breast augmentation procedure.
At our office located near the Catonsville, MD area, the actual breast augmentation procedure is most often performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. Typically, the procedure lasts less than two hours, and side effects may include temporary soreness, swelling, and bruising. Most patients can return to work and perform non-strenuous activities in five to seven days.
During this initial recovery period after your breast enlargement, you will be relaxing and following the medical directions given to you by Dr. Rosenberg. After the first 24 – 48 hours, most patients are encouraged to be up, out of bed and walking around, but need to take it easy.
It will be extremely important to follow Dr. Rosenberg’s directions exactly, as this is the time when breast implants settle into their pockets and the breasts begin to take the shape that you’ll love for years to come. A little swelling after breast enlargement is normal, but if you think you’re swelling too much or your breast implants look odd, contact us right away.
After your breasts have healed, we advise you to visit us periodically so Dr. Rosenberg can monitor how the implants are taking to your body, and to make sure there are no leaks, warping, or other problems.
