The short answer is that there is no exact number that can be prescribed to each nonsurgical procedure because everybody’s body is different. Have you noticed there are some 60-year-olds who naturally don’t look a day over 40, and some 30-year-olds who look ten years older? Nonsurgical treatments can help return age and youthfulness to your skin, but it won’t completely erase heavy damage done over the years. Some factors that affect the results of most nonsurgical procedures are:
With those factors aside, there is an average length of time you can expect certain procedures to last:
BOTOX® is an injection approved by the FDA to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the face and neck. BOTOX® works by blocking neurotransmitters in the nerves and muscles to keep the skin relaxed. Results from BOTOX® injections can be seen within days and can last up to four months before you need to schedule maintenance.
Dysport® is similar to BOTOX® in that they are both wrinkle relaxers that work to stop communications between the nerves and the muscles. The primary difference between the two is that Dysport® generally lasts a few months longer before maintenance is needed, and results can show up quicker. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and is recommended for patients under 65 years of age.
Threadlift facelifts are sometimes referred to as “weekend facelifts” and are used to gently lift the skin to minimize sagging and wrinkles. It is great for those just starting to see the effects of age and gravity and is less invasive than traditional facelifts. During the procedure, tiny permanent sutures are implanted under the skin, which hold the skin and tissues in place. While many patients have reported results lasting from a few months to ten years, the average longevity of threadlift facelifts is between three and five years.
Injectable fillers like Restylane® and collagen are two of the most popular injectable fillers that don’t contain neurotoxins. Restylane® can last up to a year, and collagen injections need to be redone every three to six months to maintain your progress.
No matter which non-surgical procedure you choose, taking care of your skin plays a big part in how long your results will last. If you don’t take proper care of the results, they won’t be maintained as well and won’t last as long. Always consult with your doctor before choosing a procedure, and be sure to have a follow-up plan after you’ve gotten a procedure done.
