Breast Implants or Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Breast Implants vs. Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Difference Between Breast Implants & Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Most people are familiar with breast implants, where silicone or saline implants are surgically placed above or below existing breast tissue to increase the size, fullness, shape, or improve the symmetry of the breasts. However, there is another type of breast augmentation procedure available to some candidates called fat transfer breast augmentation.

What Is a Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?

A fat transfer breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure where your plastic surgeon will useliposuction to take fat from another part of your body and inject it into your breasts.

There are many advantages to having a fat transfer breast augmentation versus a breast augmentation with implants. Most women find the results of a fat transfer breast augmentation to appear more natural, plus you will avoid any complications that occur (though rarely) with breast implants.

Unfortunately, candidates without adequate fat deposits to transfer or those looking to largely increase their breast size are probably not good candidates for fat transfer breast augmentation. However, with a skilled plastic surgeon, you can still achieve very natural looking results with breast implants.
