What Does Brow Lift Recovery Look Like? - Rosenberg

What Does Brow Lift Recovery Look Like?

A brow lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that lifts the forehead to improve the appearance of the skin and structure. It involves raising the tissue and skin of the forehead and brow. Usually, a person decides to have the procedure done if they have a sagging brow or asymmetry in the upper part of their face.

Many people choose to include a brow lift along with other cosmetic surgery procedures involving their face, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery, although not everyone is willing to undergo multiple procedures at once. Whether you choose to undergo a brow lift by itself or have it done alongside another procedure, it’s important to know what to expect during your recovery.

What Type of Bandages Will I Have After Brow Lift?

When you have your brow lift surgery, your forehead may be covered with dressings and your head may be wrapped loosely to protect the area and to keep bruising and swelling to a minimum. There may also be a small, thin tube to drain any blood or fluid collection under your skin during your surgery.

What Should You Expect After Your Brow Lift Surgery?

After your brow lift surgery has been completed, you will be given specific instructions by Dr. Rosenberg on what you should do to ensure that you have a smooth recovery period. They include the following:

  • How to properly care for the treated area and the drains
  • What medications to take orally or apply directly to the area
  • Concerns to look for in the area of your brow or forehead or of your general health
  • When to come for follow-up appointments with Dr. Rosenberg

Immediately after your brow lift surgery, you should keep your head elevated and avoid any strenuous activities for the length of time Dr. Rosenberg prescribed prior to surgery. You should also avoid using heat or ice on your brow or forehead while you heal.

What to Ask a Brow Lift Surgeon About Recovery

Dr. Rosenberg invites and encourages patients and potential patients to ask plenty of questions related to both preparation and recovery. Some of the most common and important questions to ask include the following:

  • What medications will I need after my surgery?
  • What types of bandages or dressings will I have after surgery?
  • When will the bandages or dressings be removed?
  • Will I have stitches removed, and when will they be removed?
  • When can I resume my normal daily routine and begin to exercise again?
  • When should I return for a follow-up appointment?

What is Brow Lift Recovery Time Like?

After your brow lift surgery, your initial healing should take around 10 to 14 days. There isn’t any set time for the removal of stitches or clips as they are removed whenever appropriate given your unique surgical plan. However, you should be able to return to work and resume light activities and your normal daily routine within 10 to 14 days after your procedure.

If you have any unsightly bruising on your brow, you can use cosmetics to conceal it so you can get back out and enjoy your life. However, it’s important to know that even while you appear presentable in public, the healing process in full takes several weeks. Eventually, your swelling will decrease and the incision lines will fade over time. Your full recovery can take several months.

To ensure that your surgery is completely successful and that your healing goes correctly, you should always follow all instructions from Dr. Rosenberg.

You should also avoid any type of excessive force, motion, or abrasion to your incisions as this can impede the healing process. Dr. Rosenberg will provide you with instructions on how to properly take care of yourself during this time to ensure a smooth recovery.
