How to Revitalize Summer Skin - Rosenberg

How to Revitalize Summer Skin

Summer is over. Fall is arriving, and winter will be nipping at our heels. During summer our skin loves being sun-kissed, absorbing vitamin D and developing a nice warm glow. As your glow starts to fade, though, your skin will start to feel dry, dull, and lifeless. How do you prepare your skin for the next transition?

Hydrate and Nourish Skin from the Inside Out

Drink Up

Of course you know to include plenty of H20 to kept your body well hydrated.  Feel free to squeeze a lemon or lime in your water to help alkalinize and add antioxidants.  And don’t forget tea: chamomile, mint, berries, ginseng, etc. Herbal teas are a good method of detoxifying. Water is key to getting rid of waste and toxins, which are the main cause of dull skin. Always remember that not all beverages are healthy for hydrating your dry skin. Keep away from those drinks, filled with empty calories that cannot provide skin nutrition.

Foods that Hydrate

Vegetables and fruit nourish and hydrate.  Make sure to get as many as possible into your diet. Most of the fruits and vegetables are not only rich source of fluids, but also provide benefits of fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Remember this includes: oranges, berries, tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes, lettuce, peaches, watermelon, celery, apples, et al, the list is long and varied. The more diversity in diet the more complex and rich in vitamins and nutrients that we absorb. And a healthy skin is a beautiful skin.

Only Oil Can Hydrate

Only oils hydrate and restore natural moisture balance. Did you know body lotions and creams, contain up to 80% water, when your skin actually topically needs oils to fully restore itself? Most lotions have only a small percentage of real natural oils – the remaining will usually be synthetic preservatives, emulsifiers, fillers, substitutes, and artificial fragrance with zero nourishing value for your skin and actually may be harmful. That’s why they rarely nourish your skin.

Feed Skin Nutrients

When choosing a skin care product make sure to read the ingredients. Just like reading ingredients at the grocery store, if you can’t pronounce it you probably shouldn’t put it on your skin.

Our skin absorbs whatever we put on it. Transdermal absorption is used for nicotine patches, hormone creams, etc. This is true with skin care. Cosmetic ingredients do not remain on the surface of the skin. They are designed to penetrate, and they do.

That means 20 square feet of transdermal nutrition absorption. Choose a product that maximizes nutrients and vitamins.

We recommend VIRTUE SKINFOOD Body Butter. Just a dab of this rich cream will hydrate the driest areas of your body. Never use anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat.

Protect and Feed Your Body from the Outside In

Feeding your body via your skin, not only will enhance the quality of your skin but your overall health. Our skin absorbs up to 60% of what we apply to it. So optimize your largest organ to feed your body vitamins and nutrients. So what do you choose to revitalize and rejuvenate?

A Balanced Acid Mantle

Make sure to clean your skin with gentle nonabrasive soap and cleansers. Look for products that will not disturb your natural acid mantle. If our acid mantle becomes disrupted, our skin can lose its moisture and be prone to infection and damage, and speed up skin aging! Just like natural probiotics protect the natural flora of the gut. Your skin has a natural acid mantle. Using products that strip will leave it vulnerable. Castile soap is one of the most gentle products for your skin. Made of antioxidant rich olive oil, it isn’t an inexpensive product. But it also leaves your acid mantle intact while washing away dirt and toxins. Check out the VIRTUE SKINFOOD Face Bar made with Olive Oil with a touch of Goats Milk. You will be amazed at how great your skin feels afterwards.
